Project Outlines
Wetland delineation, Impala Platinum No. 17 Shaft EMPR - Rustenburg, South Africa

A small wetland was identified on Impala Platinum property during the compilation of an Environmental Management Programme Report (EMPR) for a proposed No. 17 Shaft. Its presence on -site near the study area was established by the riparian zones of the drainage lines dominated by wet grasslands. Its subsequent sensitive nature was incorporated into the EMPR's surface hydrology report and possible mitigation measures provided to ensure the proposed development will not impact negatively on the ecosystem's functionality.

Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) for Buzwagi Mine - Barrick Gold Corporation

Golder Associates were tasked with the preparation of a RAP for the relocation of some 210 households and a further 370 households losing resources as a result of the proposed mine. The Buzwagi Gold Project is located in north western Tanzania, Shinyanga Region, and will consist of an open pit, which may be followed by underground mining, the processing of ore to recover gold and, possibly, copper. Study activities include socio-economic surveys, asset inventories, formation of institutional structures, determination of compensation rates, identification of resettlement sites and livelihood restoration programmes.
