Sand mining wet
Wet mining methods are based on water as the primary method of excavation and movement of the mineralised material to a central point for beneficiation.
The primary mining method applied when mining mineral sands on a large scale is normally dredge mining. Wet mining methods such as hydraulic water monitoring are also widely applied in mineral sands, alluvial deposits and the re-mining of suitable tailings facilities. This mining method is highly specialised in technical application, but also in its reliance on, and access requirements for large water sources. Our clients that apply wet mining techniques are mostly situated in Mozambique, Madagascar and in the KwaZulu-Natal and Western Cape provinces of South Africa, and throughout southern and central Africa when targeting the re-mining of historic tailings storage facilities.
